” ‘The Oldest Old’: A Group Portrait” #aging #hooray4srs

Did you happen to read this article, by John Leland, in “The New York Times,” Sunday, June 7, 2015? Its about people in New York age 85 and older. Apparently, these folks have a new name…”the oldest old!” So called this by gerontologists. Can you imagine?! I wonder how those 85 year olds will like this title? Just as an FYI, last year, I did some research as to how older people wished to be referred to when grouped together. The term “senior” won by a landslide. So the headings in the article; each heading talks about one of the six “Oldest Old” featured include: “Love Late in Life,” “Desire and Faith,” “It’s a Kind of Experience,”Awaiting the End, “Abrupt Transition,” and “Creating Continues.” I hope you will read the story: http://www.nytimes.com/2015/06/07/nyregion/a-group-portrait-of-new-yorks-oldest-old.html?_r=0http://www.nytimes.com/2015/06/07/nyregion/a-group-portrait-of-new-yorks-oldest-old.html?_r=0. Once you do, please email me so we can discuss it! I’m rather partial to Jonas Mekas (so many ideas for projects for today and many tomorrows ahead), Ping Wong (oh to be able to play Mah Jongg every day), and Helen Moses and Howie Zeimer (who doesn’t adore a great love story). What about you?
